Iowa Legislative Tracker – The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly…

When considering the many pieces of legislation on this list, keep in mind, there are many that overlap.  Some are similar or the same pieces of legislation, but submitted by different legislators, thus different bill numbers.  Iowa’s General Assembly lasts two years.  2020, is the continuation of the 88th General Assembly in Iowa, thus some pieces of legislation are left over from last year (2019).

March 15, 5:54 PM, 2020:

This afternoon the House and Senate announced the legislative session will be suspended for a minimum of 30 days following the announcement of community spread in Iowa. The decision was made in consultation with the Department of Public Health and Governor’s Office based on recommendations from the Center for Disease Control related to gatherings of more than 250 people and to protect vulnerable populations.
