Thank You for Fighting for Freedom!

This Independence Day, we here at Iowa Firearms Coalition would like to take a moment to thank you for your steadfast and ongoing support. There is simply no way we could do we what we do without your backing. Lawmakers know that when our organization speaks, it’s not just a bunch of “nutjob gun guys.” Our messages and our priorities carry the full weight of Iowans from every corner of our state, and lawmakers know this.

You know all too well that too often we are portrayed as uncompromising zealots. But the reality is we value our rights and freedoms too much to allow them to be watered down any further. As we reflect and honor our great country on this Independence Day, this quote from Thomas Paine’s 1776 publication “American Crisis” seems especially appropriate:

“These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like Hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.”

Whether you joined us to fight for your rights, or your children’s rights, or for the rights of future generations, we thank you for taking a stand with us each and every day. Paine’s words are now 238 years old, but the theme of his “American Crisis” seems to continue to ring true to this day. We find ourselves on the front lines of an ongoing fight, and you, the men and women of the Iowa Firearms Coalition, are helping us hold the line, and protect our rights. Your support is truly invaluable, and for that we are truly thankful.

Happy Independence Day,
