Remington has just issued a recall on Model 887 shotguns manufactured between December 1st, 2013 and November 24th, 2014.
According to the Remington website, these shotguns may have a defect that causes the firing pin to get stuck in the forward position. This defect may cause an unintentional discharge, aka slam fire, when chambering a live round. This could lead to injury or death of those around the shotgun’s users.
If you own a Remington 887 manufactured between December 1st, 2013 and November 24th, 2014 STOP USING IT IMMEDIATELY and contact the Remington company about having your shotgun repaired. To participate in the recall please take the following action:
STEP 1 Visit 887recall.remington.com or call 1-800-243-9700 (Prompt #3 then Prompt #2) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT. You will be asked to provide your name, address, telephone number, and shotgun(s) serial number.
STEP 2 Upon receipt of the information requested in Step 1, Remington will send you boxes and written instructions, and arrange for UPS to pick-up your shotgun(s). Please do not return your shotgun on your own. Remington will arrange for pick-up of your Model 887™.
All shipping charges for recalled shotguns will covered by the Remington Company.
