A man is fighting for his life in the Des Moines area tonight after being stabbed in the neck this afternoon. Meanwhile man’s attacker remains on the loose. Windsor Heights Police and several other law enforcement agencies from the surrounding area are asking for the public’s help. They’re searching for a white male attacker, but reportedly have very few other details to work off of.

After receiving a 911 call from the man about 3:21 p.m. reporting he had been stabbed in the neck, officers blocked off the area near the Walmart at 1001 73rd Street along the Clive Greenbelt Trail.

A search of the area and bike path was called off a couple hours after the incident was reported.

No one has been taken into custody.

The man who was stabbed was taken to a metro hospital and into surgery, police said.  His name and condition are not yet available.

Police said the man stabbed wasn’t able to provide much of a description other than a white male was involved.  The case remains under investigation.
