NOTE: This email to the Senate majority leaders was shared with us in hopes that it’d inspire others in Iowa to write to the Senate leaders and urge them to bring SF425 to a vote. It is a perfect example of a well thought out, respectful message that takes the leadership to task for ignoring the facts about SF425.

Please consider using this as a guide and writing your own version. We’re encouraging Iowans to write their home Senator as well as the Senate majority leaders:

pam.jochum@legis.iowa.gov,
steve.sodders@legis.iowa.gov,
mike.gronstal@legis.iowa.gov,
joe.bolkcom@legis.iowa.gov

We’ll be sharing more emails and notes from our members and followers, so if you have a good one please share it with us!

P.S. Don’t forget to sign and share our petition calling on the leadership to do their jobs and listen to the people of Iowa!

Dear Senators,

While I reside in Senator Bolkcom’s district, I am writing to you all to urge that SF425 be brought to a vote, as is, today. It is my understanding that there is wide bi-partisan agreement
on this bill, it has the support of law enforcement statewide, and would benefit many law-abiding Iowa citizens and families.

Can anyone explain why this has not yet come for a vote? I would like to share your response with my numerous friends and colleagues, who are also wondering. Based on all I have read in several media outlets, the conclusion must be drawn that the biases of individual senators are at play in the stalling of this vote.

Thank you for reading this email. Again, please allow SF425 to come to a vote and let the democratic process proceed today with the vote it deserves. Failure to allow a vote on this bill, which has passed 5 landslide votes already, is terribly disrespectful to the citizens of Iowa and the legislative process itself.
