Iowa Gun Control Advocates Notably Frustrated

    Iowans –

If you’ve ever wondered if all those emails and phone calls we ask you to send actually make a difference, wonder no more. Not only are we getting pro-Second Amendment laws passed here in Iowa, we’re blocking gun control bills and it’s making anti-gunners very frustrated. Of course, none of this is new news, but this week multiple media outlets verified what we’ve been saying for quite some time now.

Last week a host of gun control advocates voiced their frustration over their continued failure to advance their gun control agenda in Iowa. They even owned up to the fact that they’re losing ground in our state as IFC backed bills like ATV Carry and the legalization of suppressors are signed into law.

In short, all those emails, phone calls and campaign work you guys are doing is paying off. Not only are we passing pro-gun owner laws, we’re blocking gun control efforts in our state and it is making gun grabbers visibly frustrated.

BUT, despite their frustrations Iowa’s gun control advocates are not slowing down. They recently outlined their gun control priorities for the upcoming legislative session. Needless to say, we cannot become complacent and we’ll need your continued commitment to block these anti-gun bills.

We’ve posted the anti-gunners Iowa wish list on our IFC-PAC website.

Iowa Ranks Among States with Least “Gun Violence”

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) brought more good news late last month. The WSJ found that Iowa ranks 9th in the country for the least amount of “gun violence.” This was noteworthy enough that the Des Moines Register even picked up on the story saying “Despite having one of the lowest rates of gun-related deaths, Iowa has one of the highest rates of gun ownership, with about one-third of adult Iowans owning a firearm.”

Anti-gunners who endlessly preach that more guns equals more crime are continually being proven wrong by us Iowans. Keep it up!

    IFC Sponsors State IDPA Championship

We’re proud to announce the Second Annual Iowa IDPA State Championship is in the books. IFC is a proud sponsor of this event. This years championship featured 129 of the best shooters from around the Midwest. Not only was IFC an event sponsor, our ice cream cart was a big hit in the July heat.

  • VIDEO: Iowa House Debating & Voting on Pro Gun Owner Bills (2/23)

    February 26, 2016

    TRIGGER WARNING:

This post contains numerous gun control advocates purposely misrepresenting, misunderstanding, and flat-out misleading people about 5 pro-gun owner bills that easily passed through the Iowa House of Representatives.

If you choose to watch this video understand that at various points you may feel a strong urge to:

    Scream
    Vomit
    Pull your hair out

If the urge becomes too strong we strongly recommend that you stop the video, take a few deep breaths and remember the fact that these anti-gunners are in the vast minority. Despite their best efforts all five of these pro gun owner bills passed their votes with ease. What’s even better, many of their own party members disagreed, broke ranks and voted in favor of these bills.

So with that in mind. Please do your best to enjoy this video. The end result is very positive. While listening to the anti’s can be maddening, from time to time it is good to be reminded of just how far they’ll go to try to halt the expansion of Iowans’ freedoms.

  • Gun control advocates resort to fake terror attack in Iowa

    December 30, 2015

    A new low

It’s pretty common knowledge that gun control pushers don’t like Second Amendment advocates, but new details show just how low anti-gunners are willing to stoop in order to stop pro-gun owner legislation in Iowa.

Michael Dekota McRae recently plead guilty to one count of “Conveying False Information Concerning A Biological Weapon.” That charge stems from an April 3rd, 2012 incident where McRae wrote a threatening letter to Des Moines Representative Ako Abdul-Samad and packed it with a powdery white substance. The letter, filled with racist slurs, threats, and curse words was written to make gun owners look like racist terrorists. Here’s the kicker though, McRae was working as Abdul-Samad’s legislative clerk at the time. He wrote the letter, filled the envelope with a powdery white substance, sent it to Representative Abdul-Samad via inter-office mail and then McRae purposely opened the letter in the middle of the a House debate.

Here’s the text of the note McRae wrote:

Racist, threatening letter written by Michael McRae that was laced with a white powdery substance.

Racist, threatening letter written by Michael McRae that was laced with a white powdery substance.

As anyone can plainly see McRae uses racial slurs and threats to try to make gun owners and Stand Your Ground advocates look like murderous racists. A new low for gun control pushers here in Iowa and the rest of the country.

    Historical context

The incident occurred on April 3rd, 2012. Earlier in the legislative session the Iowa Firearms Coalition and the National Rifle Association had pushed Stand Your Ground legislation for the first time in state history. Prior to this no one else cared about enshrining your right to Stand Your Ground in the state legal code. The bill passed the House 60-38 but the Senate leadership refused to allow a vote on the bill once it landed on their desk. Since then the Iowa Firearms Coalition has continued to lead the charge for Stand Your Ground in Iowa, and a handful of others have come along to assist our efforts and follow IFC’s lead.

Fortunately though after a length investigations McRae’s 2012 facade fell apart and he was eventually arrested. Earlier this year he was charged with Conveying False Information Concerning A Biological Weapon. In late 2015 McRae plead guilty and will be sentenced in late March of 2016. He faces a maximum of 5 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

    Politics, lies and simulated terrorism

Second Amendment advocates in Iowa know all-to-well that hardcore anti-gunners in the Iowa legislature, particularly the Iowa Senate, use their positions of power to block pro-gun owner legislation from ever getting a vote (stand your ground, constitutional carry, gun owner privacy protection, legalized suppressors, and many more). We also know that gun control zealots in Iowa have no qualms about resorting to misinformation and misleading information about pro-gun owner legislation in an effort to confuse the people of Iowa. But sadly political power plays and lies just aren’t enough for gun control advocates in Iowa. They despise the pro-gun owner movement so much that at least some of them, are willing resort simulated terrorism to stop our side from making any progress. This is why it’s imperative that we conduct our business with the utmost class. Anti-gunners are absolutely desperate to paint the picture that Second Amendment advocates are a bunch of racist bullies who threaten bodily harm to anyone who opposes them. We work very hard to prove them wrong, and we need you to do the same.

The Iowa Firearms Coalition was the first to introduce Stand Your Ground in Iowa, and will continue to lead the charge until we get this signed into law. We’ll continue to do the same for every pro-gun owner bill that we possibly can — whether it’s constitutional carry, suppressors, supervised youth handgun training. If you believe in strengthening our Second Amendment rights here in Iowa we highly encourage you to become an IFC member. In the mean time we’ll continue to Stand and Fight to protect and enhance the freedom of all 3+ million Iowans.

  • Legislative ALERT — Anti-Gun Bills Introduced in Iowa Legislature. Passage Highly Unlikely.

    January 22, 2015

    unnamed

Anti-gun organizations have once again submitted their usual rights-restrictive bills in the House, but key legislators have indicated that these bills will not be advancing out of the House and probably won’t even make it through committee.

You may hear other gun groups squawking about the sky falling and needing your money to stop it from happening. DO NOT BE FOOLED, these anti-gun bills WILL NOT be passing. Instead we encourage you to save that money to spend on fun stuff, like ammunition, training or a NFA tax stamp for the suppressors that will soon be legal in Iowa!

In the meantime, the Iowa Firearms Coalition has been working closely with leaders and legislators in both chambers and are close to achieving the final language of a bill to be filed in the Senate and the House very soon. While we can’t reveal the bill right now since negotiations are still ongoing, we are comfortable saying that once it’s passed, gun owners across Iowa will be very pleased.

(From left to right) Richard Rodgers, Iowa Firearms Coalition Board Member; Kraig Paulsen, Speaker of the House; Linda Upmeyer, House Majority Leader; Clel Baudler, R. House Member; Gibson girls with their father, Nathan Gibson; and Barry Snell, Iowa Firearms Coalition President meet to discuss removing the age limit for children to fire handguns with proper supervision and parental permission.

So stay tuned! When key members agree to run the bill, we will send it to you too and create an action center alert so you can continue to show your support and contribute to the passing of this historic bill.

Fighting for your Second Amendment rights in Iowa,
