• Gun control advocates resort to fake terror attack in Iowa

    December 30, 2015

    A new low

It’s pretty common knowledge that gun control pushers don’t like Second Amendment advocates, but new details show just how low anti-gunners are willing to stoop in order to stop pro-gun owner legislation in Iowa.

Michael Dekota McRae recently plead guilty to one count of “Conveying False Information Concerning A Biological Weapon.” That charge stems from an April 3rd, 2012 incident where McRae wrote a threatening letter to Des Moines Representative Ako Abdul-Samad and packed it with a powdery white substance. The letter, filled with racist slurs, threats, and curse words was written to make gun owners look like racist terrorists. Here’s the kicker though, McRae was working as Abdul-Samad’s legislative clerk at the time. He wrote the letter, filled the envelope with a powdery white substance, sent it to Representative Abdul-Samad via inter-office mail and then McRae purposely opened the letter in the middle of the a House debate.

Here’s the text of the note McRae wrote:

Racist, threatening letter written by Michael McRae that was laced with a white powdery substance.

Racist, threatening letter written by Michael McRae that was laced with a white powdery substance.

As anyone can plainly see McRae uses racial slurs and threats to try to make gun owners and Stand Your Ground advocates look like murderous racists. A new low for gun control pushers here in Iowa and the rest of the country.

    Historical context

The incident occurred on April 3rd, 2012. Earlier in the legislative session the Iowa Firearms Coalition and the National Rifle Association had pushed Stand Your Ground legislation for the first time in state history. Prior to this no one else cared about enshrining your right to Stand Your Ground in the state legal code. The bill passed the House 60-38 but the Senate leadership refused to allow a vote on the bill once it landed on their desk. Since then the Iowa Firearms Coalition has continued to lead the charge for Stand Your Ground in Iowa, and a handful of others have come along to assist our efforts and follow IFC’s lead.

Fortunately though after a length investigations McRae’s 2012 facade fell apart and he was eventually arrested. Earlier this year he was charged with Conveying False Information Concerning A Biological Weapon. In late 2015 McRae plead guilty and will be sentenced in late March of 2016. He faces a maximum of 5 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

    Politics, lies and simulated terrorism

Michael McRae’s 2015 plea agreement in which Representative Ako Abdul- Samad’s clerk pleads guilty to faking a terrorist attack.

Second Amendment advocates in Iowa know all-to-well that hardcore anti-gunners in the Iowa legislature, particularly the Iowa Senate, use their positions of power to block pro-gun owner legislation from ever getting a vote (stand your ground, constitutional carry, gun owner privacy protection, legalized suppressors, and many more). We also know that gun control zealots in Iowa have no qualms about resorting to misinformation and misleading information about pro-gun owner legislation in an effort to confuse the people of Iowa. But sadly political power plays and lies just aren’t enough for gun control advocates in Iowa. They despise the pro-gun owner movement so much that at least some of them, are willing resort simulated terrorism to stop our side from making any progress. This is why it’s imperative that we conduct our business with the utmost class. Anti-gunners are absolutely desperate to paint the picture that Second Amendment advocates are a bunch of racist bullies who threaten bodily harm to anyone who opposes them. We work very hard to prove them wrong, and we need you to do the same.

The Iowa Firearms Coalition was the first to introduce Stand Your Ground in Iowa, and will continue to lead the charge until we get this signed into law. We’ll continue to do the same for every pro-gun owner bill that we possibly can — whether it’s constitutional carry, suppressors, supervised youth handgun training. If you believe in strengthening our Second Amendment rights here in Iowa we highly encourage you to become an IFC member. In the mean time we’ll continue to Stand and Fight to protect and enhance the freedom of all 3+ million Iowans.

  • List of Weapons Used in Charlie Hebdo Attack – Guess How Many Were Already Banned in France…

    January 13, 2015
    JOEL SAGET/AFP/Getty Images

    JOEL SAGET/AFP/Getty Images

    From the Japan Times newspaper:

Following the multiple terrorist attacks in and around Paris, French security forces the Muslim extremists were in possession of the following weapons:

    – loaded rocket launcher

    – several pistols

    – 10 smoke grenades

    – 3 Kalashnikovs

    – a grenade

    – 10 Molotov cocktails

    – 15 sticks of dynamite

    – a detonator

By now it’s fairly safe to say the whole world knows of France’s strict gun control measures, and the French citizen’s lack of a constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. If you haven’t, the Crime Prevention Research Center has an excellent run down of the overly strict French gun laws.

So now that we know what weapons were used (all of which were illegal in France), it’s nearly impossible to not wonder ‘How could those extremely strict gun control laws fail to protect the employees of Charlie Hebdo and the other murdered French citizens?’

The answer is simple, and it’s one 2nd Amendment advocates have been saying for years. Gun laws are merely just words on a page. To terrorists, murders, thugs, and criminals of all types a law means nothing, particularly if these types are bent on doing harm to others. Feel good laws, bans, restrictions, and limitations merely place an increased burden on law-abiding citizens.

As we’ve witnessed in France, banning firearms does not make them go away. In reality gun bans just create prime conditions for black market sales. In fact according to Bloomberg News and the Washington Post:

“Semi-automatic and automatic firearms are banned [in France], but that hasn’t stopped drug dealers and terrorists from acquiring them in increasing numbers, according to the National Observatory for Delinquency, a state body created in 2003 by then-Interior Minister and later President Nicolas Sarkozy. The numbers of illegal weapons in France have increased by double digits for years, the body says.”

“The French black market for weapons has been inundated with eastern European war artillery and arms,” Philippe Capon, the head of UNSA police union, told Bloomberg. “They are everywhere in France.”

“The number of illegal guns is thought to be at least twice the number of legal guns in the country. Weapons such as AK-47s can be bought for the equivalent of a few thousand dollars.”

With that said, how many gun French civilians do you think would be able to protect themselves or their loved ones from ‘drug dealers and terrorists’ armed with these types of black market weapons? Note that even three Parisian police officers had to flee the Charlie Hebdo scene because they were unarmed and incapable of defending themselves or the citizens they are tasked to protect and serve.

It’s difficult concept for some people to grasp, but we live in a dangerous world where bad people do bad things to innocent people. When a person crosses the line and becomes intent on hurting others, laws will not stop them. We here at the Iowa Firearms Coalition recognize this, and odds are if you’re reading this you do too. We encourage everyone to acknowledge the fact that your own personal safety is your responsibility.

Obviously we believe strongly in your right to carry concealed weapons. But we also realize that is not for everyone. The important thing is you have option and the freedom to carry for your own protection. As Americans we are free to go about our lives knowing full well it’s a dangerous world we live in. Everyday we run the risk of  being paralyzed by a drunk driver who runs a red light. We risk getting a paper cut and eventually dying of a staph infection. And there’s a chance we may be wounded or killed by a madman. But at least we are free enough to have a chance at defending ourselves.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again:

    Be alert.

    Be prepared.

    Be safe.

  • How I-594 Will Destroy Itself — Colion Noir

    December 22, 2014

NRA News Commentator Colion Noir breaks down Washington State’s new gun control measure I-594. This initiative makes it illegal to simply hand a gun to someone else who’d like to shoot it, to clean it, or just to see what it feels like. The #GunSense #GunDense zealots are taking I-594 on the road as model legislation for other states. They’ve already announced plans to push this in at least 12 other states. Gun owners already know it won’t stop crime, but the anti-gunners don’t seem to get it. Take a look at Noir’s latest video, then help us spread this message around. Let’s stop enacting new laws and taking away Americans freedoms, and start enforcing the thousands of gun laws already on the books.

Take two minutes to use our Legislative Action Center to send a note to Iowa lawmakers telling them you oppose gun control schemes like I-594.

  • The 9-1-1 Mentality — NRA Life of Duty

    December 17, 2014

“If someone is breaking into your house, your duty at that time is to protect your children or yourself.”
“I’ve never met a cop said I really hope she ain’t got a gun in there. Every call I’ve ever answered you hope and pray that the innocent people involved have a way to protect themselves. And that may not be a gun. Maybe a knife it may be a rolling pin, post and pans. I mean, I’m not telling you that you have to own a gun, and you have to train with it. I’m telling you that you need to prepare yourself to be able to protect yourself.”

  • BREAKING: Gabby Giffords to visit Iowa in support of Bruce Braley

    October 14, 2014
    img-Gabby-Giffords-stumps-for-Braley

    Courtesy: KCCI

Gabby Giffords will soon be visiting our state in an attempt to drum up support for Representative Bruce Bailey’s Braley’s run for the US Senate. Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly head the gun control super PAC “Americans for Responsible Solutions.” Giffords has just begun a nine state tour that’s pushing a gun control agenda that will allegedly “help protect women and families.”

Specific details of Giffords’ visit have yet to be released to the public.

This isn’t the first time Braley has leaned on these anti-gunners for support. Almost a year ago Giffords and Kelly spoke at the “Bruce Blues & BBQ.” Giffords’ super PAC has even endorsed Braley’s run for the senate.

Braley has been very open about his desire to enact stricter gun control regulations, and his close relationship with Giffords and Kelly erases any doubt that if elected Braley will support more gun control. If for no other reason than to repay Giffords and Co. for the favors they’ve done for him and his campaign.

For this reason and many others IFC is proud to support Joni Ernst in her run for Senate. And we encourage our fellow Iowans who value their rights and oppose the Braley/Giffords/Michael Bloomberg gun control scheme to vote for Ernst in the upcoming election.

  • Court rules California’s 10 day waiting period violates Constitution

    August 25, 2014

Despite new gun control and background check efforts by anti-gunners, California gun owners have one small victory to celebrate. The Second Amendment Foundation and the Calguns Foundation have defeated one portion of the California gun control schemes. More details from the SAF below:

    https://saf.org/?p=4080

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation today won a significant court victory in California in which the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California ruled that the Golden State’s 10-day waiting period violates the Second Amendment “as applied to those individuals who successfully pass” the state’s background check prior to the ten days, and who are in lawful possession of an additional firearm.

The ruling, by Senior Judge Anthony W. Ishii, a Bill Clinton appointee, also notes that the 10-day waiting period violates the Second Amendment for those individuals who pass the background check and who possess a valid CCW license. Joining SAF in the case was the Calguns Foundation and individual plaintiffs Brandon Combs and Jeff Silvester, for whom the case is named.

“This ruling clearly addressed the issue we put before the court,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb. “We are naturally delighted with the outcome.”

“This is a great win for Second Amendment civil rights and common sense,” Silvester concurred. “I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.”

SAF General Counsel Miko Tempski added, “Basically, the waiting period doesn’t make any sense when someone has already been cleared, has a concealed carry permit and already owns a gun.”

In his ruling, Judge Ishii relied on other SAF cases including Moore v. Madigan, Ezell v. Chicago and McDonald v. Chicago. He specifically noted, “The Court emphasizes that it is expressing no opinion on the constitutionality of the 10-day waiting period in general or as applied to first time California firearms purchasers.” Tempski said the court was not asked to broadly throw out the state’s waiting period in every situation, “so we don’t know if it would uphold waiting periods” as being constitutional.

“With this victory,” Tempski said, “years of SAF and Calguns Foundation litigation are coming to fruition. We have built a solid foundation that allows us to successfully challenge irrational laws like this.”

“California gun owners are not second-class citizens and the Second Amendment doesn’t protect second class rights,” said Combs, who is also CGF’s executive director. “This decision is an important step towards restoring fundamental individual liberties in the Golden State.”

Gottlieb said today’s court ruling “once again underscores our mission to win firearms freedom, one lawsuit at a time.”

  • NRA rolls out Iowa ad campaign

    August 20, 2014

The National Rifle Association will soon be front and center here in Iowa.

The gun rights organization has just rolled out a new ad campaign highlighting gun control zealot Michael Bloomberg’s hypocrisy. The NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action has just released a new :30 second TV commercial, which is just the first part of their new multimedia campaign. Iowans will being seeing and hearing much more from the NRA in the weeks to come as the NRA has purchased six figures worth of digital and social media advertisements in Iowa and other battleground states.

This is certainly welcome news for Iowa’s gun owning voters. The new NRA ad campaign will coincide with ongoing efforts by the Iowa Firearms Coalition to push Bloomberg’s anti-gun minions out of Iowa’s state legislature, and pass strong pro gun laws such as:

    • Right to Keep and Bear Arms amendment to the state constitution
    • Stand Your Ground laws
    • Suppressor/NFA legalization

  • Kudos, IFC! You sent MDA packing!

    August 8, 2014

Well folks, you did it…You sure tied a knot in the tail of those Moms Demand Action people!

Pro-gun Senate candidate Joni Ernst’s appearance at the Iowa State Fair went off without a hitch today, thanks to your help.  By our count, only five or six “moms” showed up, and they were drowned out by a sea of supporters of gun rights and of Joni Ernst.  The MDA people never even had a chance to be disruptive!  In fact, you’ll all be amused to know that when politely approached by one gun rights supporter to discuss why they were there, ALL of them refused to comment and ran away.  Go figure…Apparently sunshine really is the best disinfectant!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Good things happen because you folks can always be relied upon to come together and make a stand for what’s right.  So thank you!

And in case you missed it, our very own Jeff Burkett, president of IFC, had a chat live on the air with Jan Mickelson on WHO’s “Mickelson in the Morning” radio program.  Be sure to check the podcast out here!  To top that off, David Codrea, columnist for the fantastic “Guns” Magazine, wrote about IFC and MDA today in his Examiner column!

So the word is out, folks: IFC is an organization to contend with when it comes to real common sense Second Amendment issues!  No doubt that message was heard loud and clear today, all the way to San Diego and New York City!

  • Going to the State Fair? IFC needs your help!

    August 7, 2014

Iowa State Fairgoers: The anti-gunners are at it again!

We have just received word that the anti-gun Bloomberg organization Moms Demand Action is planning on crashing Joni Ernst’s appearance at the Iowa State Fair tomorrowAugust 8!  Joni Ernst, a senator in the state legislature and lieutenant colonel in the Iowa National Guard, is the pro-gun candidate running against anti-gun Bruce Braley for Tom Harkin’s Senate seat.  Because of that, MDA is sending e-mails and making phone calls as I type, recruiting their anti-gun, billionaire backed, astroturf activists to come to our fair and bushwhack Ernst when she’s scheduled to speak at the Soap Box Friday morning at 10:30 AM.

We IFC’ers obviously cannot allow that go to unanswered!

PLEASE, if you’re attending the Iowa State Fair tomorrowstop by the Soap Box before 10:30 AM Friday morningAugust 8, and show Bloomberg and those MDA folks that their silly New York City, anti-gun nonsense has no place here in Iowa, where we value our civil rights and freedom!  And if you weren’t planning on attending, change your schedule and get to Des Moines Friday morning!  The earlier you get there the better, because they and anti-gun Bruce Braley’s supporters will be there an hour or two ahead of time.

If you do attend, we ask that you be respectful and conduct yourselves in a civil manner, even though anti-gunners are often the opposite; we do not want to stoop to their level.  Feel free to make some pro-gun picket signs to hold up, showing your support for gun rights and/or Joni Ernst–but keep them clean and make sure everything is spelled correctly.  Remember: the Iowa State Fair is a family affair, and there will be media there covering the event…We want to put on our best show and represent ourselves professionally.

Thank you all for your help!  Only together can we stop Moms Demand Action!
