Senate Vote on HF517 Expected This Week

    Iowans-

Leadership in the Iowa Senate have pledged to bring House File 517, the Omnibus Gun Bill, to the Senate floor for debate and a vote this week. We’re expecting action sometime around mid-week, but as you can imagine nothing is ever guaranteed. We can however promise you that we’ll alert you as soon as we have a solid date and time on when a vote will take place, as well as how you can do your part to help.

If the Iowa Senate approves HF517 with no amendments the bill goes straight to the Governor’s desk. If the Senate makes any changes or amendments the bill goes back to the House who will have to vote on whether to accept or reject the changes. Obviously we’d like to get this signed into law as quickly as possible, so we’re asking you to email the Senate Republicans and urge them to pass HF517 as it’s written and without any amendments. At the bottom of this email we’ve included a list of the Senate GOP members’ email addresses. Send them quick note respectfully urging them to pass HF517 as it’s written.

    Thank You IFC Members!
IFC members are second to none. Because of your support we were able to legalize suppressors almost exactly year ago. To show our gratitude we’ve partnered with SilencerCo and Controlled Chaos Arms to give away a FREE SilencerCo Omega suppressor.

This is the easiest contest ever. Everyone that’s an active IFC member is automatically entered to win. It doesn’t matter if you’re a life member, annual member, long-time member or brand new member. You don’t need to do anything, as long as you’re an active IFC member you’re automatically entered to win.

We’ll announce the winner Saturday, April 29th, so if you’re not a member yet you’ve still got a chance to join up and win.

Annual IFC Memberships are $35 a year. We also have IFC Life Memberships available and for a short time we’re running special on life memberships. Our normal $600 life membership rate has been temporarily reduced to $400 if you sign up online and use the Coupon Code: LIFE.

Thank you members! You make what we do possible!

  • September Action Alert, Election Updates & More

    September 19, 2016

    Iowans-

Campaign efforts to flip the Iowa Senate are in full swing. For months IFC volunteers have been out door knocking in key races that will make or break the next two years in the Iowa legislature. Now we’re in the final push, and we need your help. Here’s a reminder of what is at stake:

    • Stand Your Ground
    • Constitutional Carry
    • Fixing Iowa’s Youth Shooting Laws
    • Adding the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to the Iowa Constitution
    • Gun owner privacy protection
    • NFA legalization
    • And more

If we fail to flip the Senate the chances of passing any of these laws in Iowa are virtually non-existent. If you want to see any of this happen here in Iowa we need you to get out and work for it.

There’s a reason why we’re Iowa’s most effective Second Amendment organization. We’ve got a plan and everything we need to make it happen. The only thing missing is you.

When you’re ready to say Yes, I want to pass pro-gun laws in Iowa join our volunteers and do your part to make a real difference.

Congrats to Neal of Monticello on winning our September giveaway! Big thanks to Vortex Optics for partnering with us to give away this SPARC AR red-dot sight. This month the crew at American Defense Manufacturing have stepped up and offered up a free 13.5 inch MLok AR15 rail to an IFC supporter at the end of this month. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP. American Defense Manufacturing also sweetened the pot by sending us some swag to giveaway each week. We’ve already picked two winners this month and each Friday we’ll be picking random swag bag winners. Don’t miss out!

ACTION ALERT – The Obama administration is trying to snuff out gunsmiths around the country by greatly increasing fees and regulations. In short, they want to treat gunsmiths the same way they treat firearms manufacturers. So if your gunsmith installs a new set of sights on your carry gun, they’re to be taxed and regulated the same way the gun’s manufacturer is. That’s like treating your mechanic the same way we treat car manufacturers.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley has been out in front opposing this change in DDTC regulations, but we need to make our voices heard in Washington D.C.. Hit this latest action alert and make sure Iowa’s federal officials know that this change in rules is not going unnoticed in their home state!

Finally, renowned Self Defense attorney Andrew Branca is coming to Iowa for a pair of seminars on the Law of Self Defense. Branca is an expert on self-defense law. His seminars are focused specifically on the intricacies of Iowa’s carry laws.

Mr. Branca is graciously offering a 10% discount to all Iowa Firearms Coalition supporters. Just use the discount code “IFC” to get the reduced price. As an added bonus, Branca will donate $10 to IFC for every supporter that uses the IFC discount code. This is a great opportunity get some extremely valuable (and often overlooked) training at a discounted price, and raise a few dollars for IFC.

The all-day seminars cost $149.99 if you sign up by September 23rd ($199.99 after 9/23) and will be held on October 22nd in Johnston, and October 23rd in Central City. More details and sign up information can be found on this page in the ‘seminars near you’ box.

    More updates to come.
Thanks for supporting the Iowa Firearms Coalition!

    August Update
    Iowa Firearms Coalition

    Iowans-

There’s less than a week until the start of the 2016 Iowa State Fair. This major event draws more than a million people to the East side of Des Moines. With approximately 100,000 people passing through their gates each day and relatively tiny number of armed security personnel the Iowa State Fair is also Iowa’s largest gun free zone, making it an area ripe for crime and victimization.

Last week a panel of Iowa lawmakers reviewed the Iowa State Fair’s gun free zone policy, but decided to take no action to overturn the ban. Speaker after speaker testified against your right to defend yourself and to protect your loved ones. The Iowa Firearms Coalition was the only pro-Second Amendment organization to testify in favor of repealing the Iowa State Fair’s ban on the lawful carry of firearms. Our testimony is on the website, and so is a perfect example of why you should be able to carry at the Iowa State Fair.

The Iowa Legislature’s Administrative Rules Review Committee may have decided against taking any action but that does not mean the issue of State Fair Carry is dead. We expect to see this brought up during the 2017 legislative session. In all honesty though, unless we can flip the Iowa Senate repealing the Iowa State Fair gun ban will be tough. Not impossible, but tough. As will passing laws like Stand Your Ground, Constitutional Carry, or repealing Iowa’s ban on supervised youth handgun shooting. That’s why it’s imperative that you get involved this election cycle and do more than vote.

We’re working extremely hard to flip the Senate, but we need your help. Our campaign and election division, IFC-PAC, is mobilizing Iowans around the state to end the Gronstalling in the Iowa Senate and pave the way for the a legislature that is committed to protecting and enhancing the Second Amendment. When you’re ready to go to work for the Second Amendment sign-up to volunteer with IFC-PAC or make a donation to help us flip the Iowa Senate!

We’ll be giving away the Vortex SPARC AR at the end of this month, but every week we’re selecting a random winner and mailing them small prize from our IFC swag bag.
