• 5 Ways to Actually Help Protect the 2A (Other than Argue on Social Media)

    June 14, 2016

    Gun Control on Facebook

    1. Write your legislators

Right now lawmakers are being flooded with calls and emails from anti-gunners. If they don’t hear from you, pro-Second Amendment voters, they may start to think no one cares about protecting our right to keep and bear arms.

The Iowa Firearms Coalition has just activated a new advocacy campaign. This pre-written email takes less than 30 seconds to send, and will be sent to your US Senator, Congressmen, and the President. Send your copy today, then get a friend to do the same.

    2. Take a non-shooter to the range

Introducing non-shooters to our lifestyle is a phenomenal way to create new Second Amendment advocates. There are a lot of people out there who don’t own guns, but are friendly to our cause. In many cases, they just have never been asked to go shooting.

So take someone new to the range. Show them a safe and enjoyable time. Then, after you’ve finished, explain to them why you feel the way the way you do about protecting the Second Amendment. They may not automatically agree with everything you do, but you’ve helped them take the first step, and that’s often the most difficult.

    3. Join the NRA

There’s a reason why the Bloomberg crew spends so much time bashing the NRA and no one else…

Lots of people talk tough about protecting the Second Amendment, but no one delivers like the National Rifle Association.

As an NRA affiliate we can give you a $10 discount on an annual NRA membership. For just $30 you can put your money where your mouth is and support those who are leading the fight.

    4. Join your state NRA affiliate

Gun control zealots have made it clear, they’re focusing heavily on state level gun control measures in large part because the NRA is so successful at the national level. With that pivot towards state level gun control it’s extremely important that state level groups have plenty of support.

The Iowa Firearms Coalition is Iowa’s NRA affiliate. We have a track record of getting pro-gun laws passed, and stopping gun control measures. No one is more effective at getting things done in Des Moines. We’d love for you to join us.

    5. Volunteer with a pro-Second Amendment organization

Work a gun show booth. Help sign up new members. Handout fliers to prospective members. Help with campaign work and help put pro-Second Amendment legislators in office.

None of these things cost any money, yet they’re incredibly valuable.

If you’re an Iowan who believes in your right to keep and bear arms, sign up to volunteer with the Iowa Firearms Coalition. We’re an all volunteer organization, we’re Iowa’s NRA affiliate, and we’re always looking for more help. There’s no better way to do your part.

  • Anti-Gun, Anti-Hunters Make Horrible Death Threats to Competitive Female Shooter.

    January 21, 2015

Meet Rachel Carrie. She’s a 30-year-old competitive shooter from Britain, and she’s the target of a relentless barrage of cyber bullying, hate mail, and death threats. All because of her pro-gun, pro-hunting lifestyle.

Carrie’s the daughter of a champion shooter, and has been competing since 2009. She began international clay shooting competitions in 2010, and has seen plenty of success. In 2013 she won the title of Britain’s top female side by side shooter, and even placed among the top ten in men’s competition.

All of Carrie’s success has brought a lot of attention. The competitor with her long blond hair, and love for fashion is hard to mistake. Which seems to make anti-gun, and anti-hunting groups even more livid.

The British Newspaper The Daily Mail highlighted Carrie’s story just a few days ago. According to the paper Carrie routinely receives threats on her life, and the lives of her family members.

“Imagine how you might feel if I shot your mother in the head and then celebrated, rejoiced, gave thanks and respected her high quality flesh as I ate it,” wrote one troll on Facebook.

“Crossing my fingers for a ‘hunting’ accident in 2014, hoping we’ll find your tiny brain blown off by a shotgun, dripping down rocks covered by your slutty hair, ahh makes me smile just thinking about it!”

Despite the constant threats, and bullying Carrie has become an outspoken advocate for shooters and hunters. She recently told the Daily Mail, “I truly believe hunting is in our blood, our DNA. Humans have hunted for millions of years, but our society is now so disconnected from nature that we forget that. Life is convenient, industrialised, urbanised, digitized and people seem to think meat comes from a supermarket aisle, where it could have been stuffed with growth hormones.”

Carrie says she has no plans to back off sharing her sport and love of shooting. If anything she’s doubling down in spite of those who feel the need to lash out at her.

“If I have one message for my trolls it’s this: if you don’t like it, don’t look because I am not going to stop.”

  • #GunSense #FAIL – Kroger Foods Increases Profits 21% Despite Anti-Gunner Boycott

    December 5, 2014

    Kroger FB

Michael Bloomberg, Shannon Watts and their small band of anti-gun zealots have been making a big fuss about gun owners exercising their rights in businesses around the country. Most notably they’ve targeted Starbucks and Target, and bullied them into changing their policies on lawful gun carrying firearms owners. Recently they’ve set their sights on the Kroger chain of grocery stores. Kroger has made their firearms policy very clear. Their stores follow the local laws, when local laws allow residents to carry firearms Kroger allows their shoppers to carry firearms. A novel concept right?

But that’s not good enough for these so-called “accidental activists.” Remember, they’re funded by multi-billionaire Michael Bloomberg, and led by public relations guru Shannon Watts. They’ve struggled to change laws nationwide, so they’ve shifted their focus to picking on major companies, bullying them into banning firearms. In essence they’re working on creating defacto gun bans in the places Americans spend significant amounts of time.

In this case, Moms Demand Action has been trying to coerce Kroger into banning all firearms within their stores. They’ve been boycotting. They’ve been delivering petitions. They’ve been trying to pressure the grocery store chain online and in social media. Fortunately, it’s not working at all.

Instead of hurting the store’s bottom line, all those  boycotts and petitions and hollering on Facebook and Twitter have actually helped elevate the Kroger brand. You see, Kroger just posted a 21% increase in 3rd quarter profits compared to the same period last year. For reference, similar grocery stores around the country saw an increase in profits of just 5.6%. According to the SuperMarket News trade magazine, this is the 44th straight quarter Kroger has posted positive earnings. It seems this chain of grocery stores is flourishing despite the anti-gunners best attempts to pressure them meeting to their demands.

The message here is clear: Moms Demand Action talks a big talk, but when companies stand tall and hold to true to logical principles, it becomes obvious that all that talk is nothing more than a big show. We hope the next business these anti-gun activists targets takes a long hard look at this case and learns from Kroger’s example.
