Iowa Firearms Coalition is proud to have earned official affiliate status with the NRA, due to our successful effort to institute a “Shall Issue” weapons permit law in Iowa. Since January 1st, 2011 all Iowans have been eligible to exercise their right to carry weapons without the discriminatory and inconsistent limitations previously imposed by some Iowa Sheriffs.
In 2010, after the bill was signed into law by Governor Chet Culver, Iowa Carry became Iowa Firearms Coalition in order to recognize the achievement of the organization’s principle goal and its new focus on broader Second Amendment issues going forward. Later that year Iowa Firearms Coalition was also awarded the Jay M. Littlefield NRA-ILA Memorial Volunteer Organization of the Year Award. Shortly thereafter, Iowa Firearms Coalition was also awarded the prestigious honor of being an official NRA Affiliate Club.
This proud partnership between Iowa Firearms Coalition and the NRA establishes a firm foundation upon which we to continue to defend Iowan’s Second Amendment, God-given rights.
