Meet Rachel Carrie. She’s a 30-year-old competitive shooter from Britain, and she’s the target of a relentless barrage of cyber bullying, hate mail, and death threats. All because of her pro-gun, pro-hunting lifestyle.

Carrie’s the daughter of a champion shooter, and has been competing since 2009. She began international clay shooting competitions in 2010, and has seen plenty of success. In 2013 she won the title of Britain’s top female side by side shooter, and even placed among the top ten in men’s competition.

All of Carrie’s success has brought a lot of attention. The competitor with her long blond hair, and love for fashion is hard to mistake. Which seems to make anti-gun, and anti-hunting groups even more livid.

The British Newspaper The Daily Mail highlighted Carrie’s story just a few days ago. According to the paper Carrie routinely receives threats on her life, and the lives of her family members.

“Imagine how you might feel if I shot your mother in the head and then celebrated, rejoiced, gave thanks and respected her high quality flesh as I ate it,” wrote one troll on Facebook.

“Crossing my fingers for a ‘hunting’ accident in 2014, hoping we’ll find your tiny brain blown off by a shotgun, dripping down rocks covered by your slutty hair, ahh makes me smile just thinking about it!”

Despite the constant threats, and bullying Carrie has become an outspoken advocate for shooters and hunters. She recently told the Daily Mail, “I truly believe hunting is in our blood, our DNA. Humans have hunted for millions of years, but our society is now so disconnected from nature that we forget that. Life is convenient, industrialised, urbanised, digitized and people seem to think meat comes from a supermarket aisle, where it could have been stuffed with growth hormones.”

Carrie says she has no plans to back off sharing her sport and love of shooting. If anything she’s doubling down in spite of those who feel the need to lash out at her.

“If I have one message for my trolls it’s this: if you don’t like it, don’t look because I am not going to stop.”
