Encouraging news in a recent significant court case; Governor Reynolds signs the 18-20 year-old 2A legislation; and a plea for you to Take Action on the Gadsden License Plate bill. Ready?
SIGNIFICANT COURT CASE
There was another encouraging recent 2A court case win this week, pushed by Firearms Policy Coalition and the Second Amendment Foundation. This Third Circuit Court of Appeals case ruling stands out for two reasons:
- A lower-court ruling in the case of Bryan Range, a non-violent felon, was allowed to stand because the US Attorney General Pam Bondi, intentionally let a deadline pass, NOT to request Supreme Court certification. The result – in this case – is that this non-violent felon cannot be “disarmed for life” of his/her Second Amendment rights.
- Although this decision ONLY applies to the Appellant, Bryan Range, it is likely to inform other courts’ future decisions. But the case is interesting and worth reading the court’s opinion, here.
We turn to Mark Smith again, of Four Boxes Diner, for a legal breakdown of this case.
TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S SUPPORT FOR 2A
Another promising development from AG Bondi is that she sent a memo to the entire DOJ, informing them that she was cutting millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded wasteful grants to ‘anti-gun-violence’ organizations, such as Gifford’s ‘Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence’ NGO. There were $180 MILLION spread over 75 grant recipients – and those funds have been cut. Many of these grant programs have little detail about their operations. The Gifford’s organization is upset by the cuts – as is all of MSM. Listen to Mark break it down in this video.
GOVERNOR REYNOLDS SIGNS BILL AUTHORIZING 18-20 YEAR-OLD IOWANS TO POSSESS/CARRY HANDGUNS
As you know, last week, the Governor signed a bill authorizing 18-20 year-olds to possess and carry handguns. Iowa Firearms Coalition thanks the Legislature for their bi-partisan support of this bill, which our volunteer lobbyist, Richard Rogers, has tried to get through for a few years. Legislation takes work and sometimes results are slower than we’d like, but we have made tremendous progress over the past fifteen years. There is a lot of hype about what this new law, which takes effect July 1, 2025, does and does not do. The Truth About Gunds posted this article which breaks it down for you, HERE.
TAKE ACTION RIGHT NOW!
Click this link & Send Your Message NOW! What’s so important about a license plate? (Even a cool Gadsden Flag license plate 🙂 Well, in a word, it is revenue. For what? Voluntary purchases of the Gadsden License Plate — IF THIS BILL PASSES — will provide money to organizations, like IFC, to conduct firearms safety training. No one will be compelled to purchase this plate. These funds will ensure the availability to more Iowans for life-protecting training about safe gun handling, shooting and storage. Please send your message to the Senate today!
