Just a quick update on HF 2381, as of Friday the bill failed to be brought out of sub-committee and to the Senate Judiciary committee for a vote. This  lack of action has killed the bill and it will not be brought up on the Senate floor for a vote as we had hoped.

That said, we are encouraged to keep fighting for alternative methods to get this bill to the Governor’s desk. As you well know this bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support on the House floor. This bill has strong bipartisan verbal support in the Senate as well.

Most importantly, this bill is one of the top pieces of legislation that legislators received e-mail and phone support on which demonstrates that the people of Iowa want this to pass. Our members alone sent thousands of e-mails asking for support on this bill.

We want to thank you, the membership, for once again showing overwhelming commitment to communicating to legislators. We may need more support to get this bill through. Please stay tuned in to updates and we will be sure to let you know if and when we need another push for action.
