thank you, keep up the great work
Gentleman,
Great video on the new Constitution carry law. Just a suggestion. In future video’s I would like some dialog on the individuals responsibility to get firearms training. The last thing anyone wants is a person carrying who my not be proficient with handling and discharging a weapon especially with innocent people around. Not saying there should be mandatory training, but to encourage them to get help either from an instructor someone who is proficient with firearms.
Thanks, and keep up the good work!
IFC’s stance has been the same since DAY ONE. We encourage citizens to take the highest level of training they can withstand and afford. HOWEVER, no civil right should ever be relegated to government permission or an arbitrary test.
IFC has provided training and continues to advocate through a wide array of trainers across this state and beyond.
Why don’t you have listed on your registration that you have a valid state carry permit with your legal info that you have on your permit, As a former Police officer I believe that a process like that would prevent a officer pulling his weapon if you tell him that you are armed. I also disagree with the if I heard it right , being allowed to purchase a firearm(Pistol) with out having a background check completed. A background check with mental health information provided will prevent the random shootings that happen all the time.
“Why donât you have listed on your registration that you have a valid state carry permit?” – So, if you don’t have a registration, you wouldn’t be able to carry? You shouldn’t need a driver license to protect your life. Many people don’t have a license, but their lives are all valuable. Besides, if you think through it properly, that simply permitting through other means.
“A background check with mental health information provided will prevent the random shootings that happen all the time.+ – How can it do that? Criminals break the law and hurt people through many different means. If they fail a check, they typically find ways to hurt others with or without weapons. The change to Iowa law now brings it in line with federal regulation.
You’re welcome.
I was speaking about those who do have one not the ones who drive with no registration or license would make it easier for the officers, it could be on their drivers license. Instead of giving your license and registration to the officer then saying you had a weapon or them seeing it if you were asked to exit the vehicle.
Understood. That was discussed at one time, but there were some good reasons to avoid that as some sort of ‘endorsement’ style of a driver’s license. Then liaising with DOT, DPS, etc. And the NICS validity period vs the expiration of the driver’s license, etc. NICS is good for 5yr max, DL’s are much longer now, depending. Plus, if you do something to invalidate the permit or your license, who is responsible for taking it and who reissues the other? All kinds of calamity ensue.
Simply put, it doesn’t work and won’t work for some of those reasons and many more.
Who would make the determination of mental health? Our government? Our government wants to take guns. What better way than to arbitrarily give it power to declare a person unfit. Do you not think they’d use the IRS and any other method available to lock you down and force compliance?
Thank you, keep up the good work gentlemen
