Dear IFC,
What has it been 10 years or better, to get this added to the State Constitution? And if I recall correctly, a little under-handed forget-fullness?… To try to throw the process off course?
Yes, What the IFC (and membership) has completed here, is a Very Real and important accomplishment. I THANK YOU’ALL so much for all the Hard Work.
There was definitely an oversight in the Office of the Secretary of State that made it necessary to start over with the process to adopt this amendment, but there was absolutely nothing “underhanded” (intentional) about it. The same error caused a failure of another totally unrelated amendment in the same year. The silver lining in that cloud was that it made apparent that the mid-18th Century statutory procedure for publicizing an amendment’s first passage by the legislature needed to be updated to 21st Century methods. An updated procedure was enacted in the next legislative session.
The people of Iowa have spoken, great day. Now to reign the ATF.
Good job to all involved.
