Disappointment, Realities, and Resources

Disappointment, Realities, and Resources is an odd combination of things that I should not have to write about immediately following the adjourning of the Iowa Legislature for the rest of this year. The same legislators who thanked IFC just a few months ago for helping turn the State of Iowa “Red” by our push to pass the Freedom Amendment last year.

Disappointment: Well I wish I were the wordsmith my friend and IFC past Chairman Michael Ware is but I’m not. You can read his in-depth analysis of the just ended legislative session HERE. I’d be lying if I told you I’m anything but disappointed by our Senators who failed to protect Iowan’s from “woke” corporations and their inability to see through the bull crap of the dangerous quack anti-gun leftist.

Realities: Well, not just have the opponents of freedom here in Iowa showed us their true colors, but once again their allies in Washington D.C. have done the same thing. Last week Senator Mendez and his fellow dangerous quacks introduced the H.E.A.R Act, that if passed would outlaw firearm sound suppressors and demand confiscation. You can read about it over at Accurate Shooter. The amazing thing to me is that in most of the world it’s considered bad manners and inconsiderate to shoot or hunt without a suppressor on your firearm. In Canada and Alaska the sound of a gunshot is known as the dinner bell to the local bear population.

Resources

Resources: Most, if not all, of you reading the IFC Blogs know about the resources on IFC’s website, along with the NRA’s various programs and firearms safety material. Ever wonder where some of us from IFC find all the current information and research on crime and firearms rights? One of my favorite sources is Professor John Lott, PhD.  Dr. Lott is the President of the Crime Prevention Research Center and he has a weekly email newsletter that covers everything from his testimony before legislative bodies and research materials. I highly suggest you check out his website and, if interested, sign up for his weekly newsletter.

The Leftist Narrative

Gun grabbers ignore the real problem.  The leftist narrative is that guns are bad in the hands of law abiding citizens, but they conveniently ignore who are the real problem. It’s not the mentally ill; they are actually only a small part of the violence problem in America. It’s not “Ultra MAGA Republicans” despite the left projecting and screaming constantly about their law-abiding opposition. It’s criminals and gang members.

Let’s look at a headline from the last few days of a shooting story that quickly disappeared from the mainstream media to illustrate my point:

“Five Killed in Texas Shooting, Police Are Searching for the Shooter, and the Gun Grabbers for a Reason to Look Away”

Within that story are a few notable quotes from the article — if  you don’t have time to read the whole thing:

“This is a shooting that should galvanize the gun-grabbers. It is a mass shooting during the course of a home invasion. One of the victims is a child. The shooter had been the subject of several complaints about him discharging a firearm.  And the weapon is an AR-15-style rifle. But it won’t.” [emphasis added]

Unfortunately, in the example above an illegal alien was involved, due to our unsecured border.  The Sheriff described the scene in this video:  Sheriff Greg Capers shares details of deadly San Jacinto County shooting

Then in Jasper County Texas, at an after-prom party with 250 people in attendance, eleven people were shot. Two weeks before that in Dadeville, Alabama at another teen party with about sixty people attending, four died and 32 were injured or wounded.

“Step back to two weeks from today, April 15, and we have a third mass shooting in Dadeville, Alabama. The venue was a “sweet 16” party of about 60 young people. Gunfire erupted — at least 89 shell casings from seven different weapons were recovered at the scene — and when it ended, four people were dead (three men, aged 23, 29, and 18, and a 17-year-old woman) and 32 either injured or wounded. Four of the wounded were initially in critical condition. What should’ve been the lead story across the nation for several days disappeared by Monday morning.”

What is the consistent theme of these reports? Teenage gangs committing crimes. But the stories are quickly dropped. Why? The Leftist narrative is not about gangs, or crime, or the children. If it was, the gang violence in Chicago would be the headlines 24/7 in America. Gun control and highlighting certain violent attacks are about controlling people, period.  End of story.

Contact Your Legislator

Time to reach out again to your State Senator or State House Representative with your support for Senate File 543. Call, fax, email, or use the IFC Action Alert system to reach out to them as soon as possible. And while you’re at it, remind them that Iowans voted them into office, not the woke big banks and freight companies.  They need to support Governor Reynolds’ Anti-ESG bill Senate File 507 and stop discriminating against firearm, agriculture, and energy businesses in Iowa.

National Rifle Association Annual Meeting 2023

The National Rifle Association Annual Meeting concluded just a little over a week ago and I had the honor of attending on your behalf as IFC President. Due to the incredible work of all our Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other volunteer efforts last year, not only did we get the Freedom Amendment passed with an overwhelming majority, but in the process, IFC set the new standard for social media effectiveness across the Second Amendment and civil rights activist community, winning the coveted NRA Outstanding State Association Award for 2022.

While on the subject of NRAAM, here are a few photos of what it’s like sharing the convention center with over 70,000 people on a show floor of over fourteen acres of the newest in guns and gear!

President Roosevelt's Hunting Rifles

Apparently the legislators in Indiana did not get Lincoln’s message (below).  Unlike Iowans, who as people of a Free State are not restricted from being able to defend themselves in or around our State Capitol grounds and buildings.

And, of course, two of IFC’s Trusted Partners were in attendance–Both Mountain Man Medical and Firearms Legal Protection!

Legislative Update – Please Take Action Now!

I’ll take a few words to remind you to reach out through our Action Alert System to your State Senators to ask them again to support the Safer Families Act. It’s critically important that you do so today. The surprising thing to us here in IFC leadership is that what looks like common sense to each of us in allowing Iowan’s when and where to choose to protect themselves with lawful weapons, is that some of our long term supporters in the legislature are not listening to the facts. If you want to know the truth go to our past Chairman’s blog on the Safer Families Act here to get the facts. Not the dangerous quack leftist lies on what the bill does and does not do.

And don’t forget to renew or join IFC today in our fight against the anti-freedom left.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

It’s OK, You Can Trust Them

It’s OK, you can trust them, President Biden said. This is the same administration that has two tiers of justice, one for their favored leftist and another for the rest of us. This is also the same Department of Justice that just paid out a $144.5 Million dollar settlement to the victims of the Sutherland Springs, Texas Church attack. All the while ignoring the real criminals in America to go after the law-abiding.

In 2017 Sutherland Springs Texas Church attack survivors filed a civil suit against the DOJ and US Air Force, the FBI and USAF for failing to properly update the NICS Instant Check database with information that the shooter, Devin Patrick Kelly, was a prohibited person. Kelly was prohibited due to Kelly’s Bad Conduct Discharge and felony domestic violence convictions while in the USAF. Because the database was not properly updated, Kelly was able to legally purchase the firearms he used in the attack in which he killed 26 worshipers and injured 22 others.

Just in the last two weeks, we saw a former President, and now current Presidential Candidate Trump, charged with a non-existent process crime by a politically-motivated and George Soros backed New York City District Attorney. The case is so weak that even the New York Times called it a travesty.

The politically driven prosecutions against anyone who disagrees with the current administration are more evidence that the framers were right about standing up against tyranny. Defend yourself lawfully, they prosecute you. Speak out against this Administration, they silence you. These are the same guys that tell you we need universal background checks. But they don’t even maintain the database properly.

But it’s OK President Biden tells us, give up your guns!  They will protect you, you can trust them.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

EVIL COMES TO NASHVILLE — AMERICAN HEROES SHOW HOW TO STOP IT!

Last week we all watched in horror as evil came to Nashville — American heroes show how to stop it. Again, another crazy person attacked a gun-free zone.

Initial reports indicate that the private Christian School had a plan in place to immediately lock down the facility, and the Nashville Metro Police Department quickly responded and closed with and killed the attacker. If you watch the body camera videos you can see that the officers did not delay while they waited for instructions or orders like the Uvalde, Texas Police did several months ago, costing many lives. But instead two officers from the NMPD took tactical command, and aggressively led the team to take out the shooter as quickly as possible.

Of course those dangerous leftist quacks immediately were blaming the guns, but not the evil woman who used them. In Asia and parts of Europe, weekly knife attacks are happening, and in the United Kingdom, over 37,000 knife attacks had happened in 2021, including many with multiple victims.

Fortunately for Iowans, our legislators have provided our school boards with the legal tools they need to ensure that their staff who are Present, Trained, and Willing to be armed are there with the tools they need to stop any threat to the kids we leave in their charge at schools every day immediately.

Free Training Available

If you have time on April 22, join us in Newton for an exclusive and free First Responder & Self Defense training event [scroll down after opening link, for information]. If you’re unsure about what being Present, Trained, & Willing is, this four-hour course will open your eyes.
