Each time a politician votes for “gun control” (more appropriately called people control) they fall into two camps.  Camp One – the dangerous and oblivious types that vehemently wish to take your liberty and freedom, not because they want them as something they can keep, but simply because they don’t wish for you to retain them.  Camp Two – the folks who typically don’t side with the gun grabbers, but broke from their campaign promises as they’re convincing us that this action offers “no new restrictions” over current policy and/or the law.

IFC has been critical of the components in VAWA, dating back to original concerns last October.  VAWA components that didn’t get axed got rolled into the spending bill a few months ago, and flew through congress in hours.  We met several times with Senators and House Representatives to warn them that funding ATF deeper and expanding deputization powers for both Law Enforcement and Prosecution, along with funding streams to pay the local peace officers would be abused.  We also wrote about that HERE, HERE, and HERE.  Some elected officials believed us and shared our concerns.  Others either didn’t believe us or ignored us.

Knowing we were right, as we’re immersed in this and do all things 2A, it was a matter of time before ATF began cracking down on “Straw Purchases” to harass the law-abiding citizens of these States United.  I read an article from Lee Williams this morning in The Gun Writer titled, “ATF conducts surprise firearm inspection at man’s home without search warrant.”  I knew what I was going to read.  IFC predicted it.  I remember offering examples like this to elected officials for months leading up to recent votes taken on both the terrible components in VAWA and the “Safer” Act.  Check out Lee’s article

Apparently, it takes 3 guys to ask a question.  If this is just a quick check of the gun registration that isn’t legal and supposed to exist in the United States, why 3 guys in Tactical gear?  And oh by the way, why was the question of “All I’m doing is verifying that you have it, you got two different purchases. If you have them, I’m out of here. That’s how quick it is. Yeah. Do you have them with you by any chance?” being asked to begin with?  Why verification of the arms?  What purpose does this serve besides intimidation, embarrassment among your neighbors, and genuine discouragement of lawful ownership?  In part of the video, you can see the 3 officers joking among themselves, “I don’t blame him,” for being shaken and intimidated…  They appear to simultaneously laugh it off and agree.  I’m not sure which one of those responses I have more disdain for.  Both are wholely beneath the actions of men with honor.  They’re laughing and making light of the abuse of government authority over the individual while agreeing they’d be scared if the roles were reversed.  Goliath with all his power, much like the ATF, offered similar responses to David – “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?

When IFC tells you, “THIS WILL BE ABUSED,” we mean it.  Because it will.  At what point will politicians who pledged to listen and support you, begin listening and supporting us again?  At what point will they reel in the ATF?  They’re out of control.

ATF, coming to a home near you…  No warrant, no investigation, no reported crime, just using the newfound power, money, personnel, and latitude provided by votes for legislation that offered “no new restrictions” on your civil liberties.
