IFC Chair John McLaughlin visits with Carl Chinn, founder of the Faith Based Security Network on the threats facing churches today. In the last two decades, violent acts on faith-based properties have continued to increase. The FBSN assists churches with training standards for armed team members, templates for developing plans and procedures, and the sharing of threat information. The FBSN was started after Carl Chinn was one of four people held hostage at gunpoint at the Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado in 1996 where Chinn was a building engineer. Eleven years later Chinn was part of a security team that responded to an active shooter at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. FBSN now serves 47 states.
